Job summary

Valley Baptist - Brownsville Hospital, part of Tenet Healthcare, seeks a Telemetry Technician to set up and monitor patient telemetry according to physician orders. You will calibrate equipment, troubleshoot issues, and ensure accurate data transmission to the RN each shift.

The role includes documenting data, maintaining records, transcribing orders, and coordinating with nursing staff. A sign-on bonus may be offered; a High School diploma and BLS certification are required.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certifications: AHA BLS required.
• Experience: 6 months of related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up telemetry equipment per physician orders and calibrate monitors.
• Troubleshoot monitoring equipment and ensure proper function.
• Transmit and document patient data to the RN with correct interpretations at required intervals.
• Maintain patient monitoring in the system and verify alarm parameters.
• Transcribe physician orders and post results; assemble and maintain patient records.

Job Summary

Responsible for the setup of telemetry on physician orders by ensuring proper placement of electrodes, running strips, and replacing batteries as needed.

Responsibilities

Selects, sets-up, calibrates and adjusts monitoring equipment in accordance with physician orders. Ensures continued proper functioning of equipment; troubleshoots equipment problems as identified. Collects, transmits, and documents pertinent patient data to the Registered Nurse (RN) with correct interpretations and interval measurements on each patient at required intervals every shift and with any significant rhythm change. Maintains current monitored patients in the system; confers with nursing staff to determine correct validation counts and alarm parameters for patients. Reports alarms and changes of rhythm to RN staff. Greets, screens and processes incoming unit/dept calls, patients, visitors, and messages. Transcribes physician orders, enters tests, and treatment requests into system. Assembles and maintains patient medical records including posting of results.

Qualifications

Education:

Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

Preferred: 6 months of related experience.

Certifications:

Required: AHA BLS
