Job summary

Carondelet St. Josephs Hospital in Tucson, AZ seeks a Monitor Tech to perform electrocardiogram procedures on patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring and to maintain telemetry equipment.

You will work in a collaborative clinical team, review patient records, assist in training new staff, and contribute to high-quality patient care while following department protocols. Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; basic EKG exam completed if not already.
• Previous experience as Patient Care Tech, Medical Assistant, Monitor Tech or Monitor Tech Trainee desired.

Responsibilities

• Attach, connect, and operate electrodes from body areas to ECG leads.
• Review patient records and instruct patients before procedures; monitor during procedures.
• Identify artifacts and forward results to attending physician for interpretation.
• Maintain EKG equipment and supplies.
• Run a strip per department protocol and document telemetry information.
• Notify Biomed of equipment problems.
• Assist in training new Monitor Techs.

  • Education: One (1) year experience as Patient Care Tech, Medical Assistant, Monitor Tech, Monitor Tech Trainee in an acute healthcare setting.
  • Certifications: Specialty areas Basic Life Support (BLS).
