Job Summary

• Monitors patients' heart rhythms using telemetry equipment to detect abnormalities.
• Reviews patient information to determine normal and abnormal heart rhythm patterns.
• Observes cardiac monitor screens and alarms to identify rhythm variations.

Essential Functions

• Monitors telemetry for changes in cardiac rhythms.
• Removes and cleans telemetry equipment upon patient discharge.
• Maintains accurate records of telemetry patients.
• Notifies RN or supervisor immediately of rhythm changes.
• Sets up transmitters, wires, and monitor systems for telemetry-ordered patients.
• Troubleshoots transmitters and wires as needed.
• Adheres to federal, state, and local regulations regarding food safety and sanitation.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Expectations

• Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English.
• Good and regular attendance.
• Satisfactory score on EKG interpretation competency test.
• Ability to accurately identify cardiac rhythms and understand their significance.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

• High School diploma or equivalent required.

Licenses/Certifications

• Current BLS certification.
• EKG certification preferred.

Experience

• No prior experience required.
