Job description

Are you detail-oriented and passionate about patient care? We're looking for a dedicated team member to help monitor and support heart health at UPMC Northwest. In this role, you'll provide continuous visual surveillance of cardiac rhythm monitors, alerting nursing staff immediately to any changes or life-threatening conditions.


Responsibilities:

  • Maintain strict patient confidentiality.

  • Monitors multiple cardiac rhythm screens simultaneously with 100% accuracy in dysrhythmia recognition and classification (e.g., ventricular, atrial ectopic, normal, unknown); maintains alarm settings per policy and promptly notifies staff of critical rhythm changes.

  • Demonstrates working knowledge of diagnostic equipment, including both physical and electronic components, and applies basic troubleshooting skills as needed.

  • Takes responsibility for ongoing professional development and maintaining clinical expertise; maintains CPR certification once oriented and attends in-service training and skill-building opportunities.

  • Willing and available to cover subsequent shifts if staffing needs arise.

  • Collaborates with peers by staying aware of workflow demands and taking initiative to assist in completing procedures efficiently.

  • Cleans diagnostic equipment daily, stocks supplies, and ensures inventory is maintained; reports supply needs and equipment issues to the manager or Biomedical Services.
