Kootenai Health seeks a compassionate Monitor Tech to help monitor patients in the Progressive Care Unit. From a remote workstation, you will watch multiple patients’ heart rates and promptly report changes to the nursing staff while ensuring monitors are functioning properly.
Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, achieving 90% on the BCA exam within 90 days, and demonstrated ability to interpret cardiac rhythms and arrhythmias.
Kootenai Health is currently hiring a patient focused, compassionate Monitor Tech with a drive to provide exceptional care to those they serve.
The progressive care unit (PCU) specializes in treating medical and surgical patients whose needs are not serious enough for the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) but too complex for regular med/surg units. Patients are treated for a variety of cardiac and other medical problems including dysrhythmias, myocardial infractions, stroke, organ failure, and patients who have recently begun potent drug regimens that require monitoring. As a staff member of the PCU unit, you operate between the basic level of general care and the highly specialized level of ICU care. PCU is a 33-bed unit that is growing to meet the increasing high acuity needs of our community.
The Monitor Tech is responsible for continuously monitoring patients from a remote workstation located in the Critical Care Monitor Studio located between the Critical Care and Progressive Care Units. In this job, you will watch patient’s heart rates using equipment that tracks several patients simultaneously and report important changes to the nursing staff. In this role, you will also ensure that monitors are functioning properly.
