Job summary

NRT Bus, Inc. is seeking a School Van Monitor to help safely transport students to and from school in the Dracut, MA area.

The role offers part-time hours (20-25 per week) with a pay rate of $18.54 per hour, plus benefits and training. Responsibilities include assisting students entering and exiting the vehicle, ensuring proper seat belt use, monitoring behavior, reporting safety concerns, and communicating clearly with students, parents, and staff.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ and able to pass a background check.
• English communication skills (spoken and written) required.
• Background check, CORI/SORI, and drug screen required.

Responsibilities

• Safely assist students entering and exiting the vehicle and secure them with seat belts and car seats as needed.
• Monitor student behavior and provide guidance, feedback, and direction.
• Report unsafe or inappropriate behavior to management and follow corrective steps.
• Communicate clearly in English with students, parents, teachers, and staff.
• Demonstrate ability to install car seats and booster seats and follow supervisor instructions.
• Willingness to work with school-age children, including those with special needs.

What We Offer

What You’ll Be Doing

• Safely assist students as needed. This includes helping them enter and exit the vehicle, using the vehicle’s lap and shoulder belts, and safely securing them in car seats and booster seats. Lifting may be required. Monitor student behavior to provide appropriate guidance, feedback, and direction when necessary.
• Report unsafe and inappropriate student behavior to management; follow directions and implement corrective steps as assigned.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and clearly in (English) with students, parents, teachers, and Van Pool staff.
• Must demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills while using Van Pool’s two‑way radio system.
• Must have the physical capability to safely install car seats and booster seats.
• Must be able to follow written and verbal directions and instructions from supervisors.
• Must demonstrate a willingness to work effectively with school age children with special needs.
