Job summary

Discord is seeking a strategic Commercial Policy Lead to shape monetization and revenue product policies, balancing business needs with user trust. You will own policy development for ads and commerce, work with Legal and Compliance, and leverage AI and analytics to close policy gaps.

The role requires navigating regulatory requirements across global markets and collaborating with sales, product, and Trust & Safety to scale enforcement.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in advertising policy or monetization within technology companies.
• Experience in digital advertising, third party data providers, brand safety or subscription models or APIs/SDKs.
• Experience using AI in day-to-day projects and workflows.
• Ability to make sound decisions in ambiguous and evolving situations.
• Experience working with revenue teams and understanding business metrics/KPIs.
• Strong analytical skills and data-informed policy decisions.
• Excellent communication skills for technical and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead policy development for Discord’s ads and/or commerce business; flex into policy work for other products as needed.
• Create frameworks enabling sustainable growth while protecting users from deceptive practices and economic harm.
• Partner with Legal and Compliance to meet regulatory requirements across global markets.
• Develop clear guidelines for acceptable advertising and commerce.
• Leverage AI tools and data analytics to identify emerging commercial risks and policy gaps.
• Represent Discord externally to partners, advertisers, and industry bodies.
• Translate complex policy requirements into actionable guidelines for sales and product teams.
• Provide policy guidance to product teams throughout development lifecycle.
• Collaborate with Trust & Safety to ensure policies can be enforced at scale with AI and human review.
