Job summary

IU Health in Bloomington is seeking a Specialist – Peer Recovery Coach to support pregnant and postpartum individuals affected by substance use within the Moms Heal Together program. You will rely on lived experience and recovery principles to build trust, provide advocacy, and help navigate treatment options alongside a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Lived experience with substance use recovery used to support others.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary care team and coordinate with partners.
• Proven advocacy skills and experience guiding participants through recovery resources.

Responsibilities

• Build trusting relationships with pregnant and postpartum participants affected by substance use.
• Share personal recovery experiences to convey hope.
• Provide recovery-focused support, encouragement, and advocacy from pregnancy through two years postpartum.
• Promote engagement in treatment and recovery services with regular follow-ups.
• Help participants set goals related to sobriety, parenting, health and well-being.
• Connect participants with community resources and help navigate services.
• Collaborate with clinical teams to develop action plans and deliver person-centered, trauma-informed care.
• Assist in admissions when appropriate and refer to alternative treatments when needed.
• Travel to Moms Heal Together clinics in Paoli, Bloomfield, and Bedford; mileage reimbursed.
