Job summary

Indiana University Health seeks a Specialist – Peer Recovery Coach to support pregnant and postpartum individuals affected by substance use, from pregnancy through two years postpartum, across Paoli, Bloomfield, and Bedford clinics. You will draw on lived recovery experience to build trust, provide encouragement, and navigate resources in collaboration with clinical teams.

The role emphasizes trauma-informed, person-centered care and requires travel to multiple clinics with mileage

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED (or equivalent).
• ICAADA/DMHA certification as Peer Recovery Coach or equivalent.
• Certification in Peer Recovery Services within six months of hire.
• Lived experience with substance use recovery to support others.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word/PP/Excel).
• Knowledge of applicable state and federal laws.
• Ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary care team.
• Willingness to commute to Paoli, Bloomfield and Bedford clinics.

Responsibilities

• Build trusting, supportive relationships with pregnant/postpartum participants affected by substance use.
• Share personal recovery experience to convey strength and hope.
• Provide recovery-focused support and advocacy from pregnancy through two years postpartum.
• Encourage engagement in treatment and recovery services.
• Help participants set and pursue goals related to sobriety, parenting, health, and well-being.
• Connect participants with community resources and navigate services.
• Collaborate with clinical providers to develop action plans and deliver trauma-informed care.
• Assist in admission decisions and refer to alternate treatments when needed.
• Travel to Moms Heal Together clinics (Paoli, Bloomfield, Bedford) with mileage reimbursement.
