Job summary

Northwestern Medicine seeks a Molecular Technologist II to perform test procedures in Cytogenetics and/or Molecular Laboratories, report results to physicians, and support patient diagnosis.

Responsibilities cover pre-analytic workflow, specimen collection/processing, analytical testing, QC, and post-analytic reporting, with emphasis on accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.

Requires Bachelor's in a lab science and 1 year Molecular/Cytogenetics experience; ASCP MB/CG certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant laboratory science field.
• 1 year experience in Molecular or Cytogenetics clinical laboratory or eligible for ASCP MB/CG certification.

Responsibilities

• Performs pre-analytic workflow for Cytogenetics/Molecular labs and ensures orders are entered correctly.
• Verifies orders and non-patient information per established protocol.
• Collects, receives and processes specimens; ensures proper labeling and handling.
• Performs analytical testing and maintains test system integrity and QC.
• Performs post-analytic reporting and interprets results for clinical correlation.
• Ensures safety and compliance through procedures and documentation.
