Job summary

PathGroup in Nashville, TN is seeking a Molecular Pathology Coordinator to assist the Molecular Pathology department under supervision. Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Medical laboratory experience preferred.
• Experience with accessioning competencies is desirable.

• Collects information on client inquiries/complaints for follow-up.
• Receives and returns paraffin blocks.
• Follows laboratory safety precautions and lab procedures.
• Adheres to Corporate Compliance Program and Corporate Policies.

Job description

Molecular Pathology Coordinator under the direction of the Molecular Pathology Coordinator Supervisor helps manage cases that are associated with the Molecular Pathology department. This position is responsible for handling more advanced tasks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Initiates work flow for several departments including flow cytometry, cytogenetics, molecular and fish.
• Triages, prioritizes, and sorts specimens appropriately for accessioning and processing.
• Performs data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner.
• Scans requisitions and all related paperwork into the scan system, and shreds documents as needed.
• Handling of specialty specimens including assembling specimen folders, printing labels, sorting samples by department, filling out paperwork for add-on testing and sending out samples for reference testing.
• Handle inbound calls or direct those calls to appropriate personnel.
• Collect information related to client inquiries/complaints and communicate to Oncology Customer Support or management for follow-up and response.
• Receive and return paraffin blocks.
• Exercises all laboratory safety precautions and adheres to lab procedures as stated in procedure manuals.
• Must be familiar with Corporate Compliance Program and Corporate Policies.

Requirements

EDUCATION & LICENSURE:

High School Diploma or GED is required

REQUIREMENTS:

Medical laboratory experience required.

Display an above average rating in accessioning competencies.
