Job summary

The University of Washington in Seattle seeks a Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) 1 to join the Molecular Microbiology Team at the Renton Central Laboratory. You will assist MLSs and faculty by performing simple tests, preparing specimens, and aiding in new test development while maintaining a positive, collaborative work environment.

Required: high school diploma or ASCP-approved lab assistant course plus 1 year of lab experience; molecular biology experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent AND one (1) year of chemical, clinical, or public health laboratory experience.
• Completion of a laboratory assistant course approved by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP).

Responsibilities

• Orders and receives lab supplies and keeps the laboratory stocked.
• Logs in specimens and performs simple qualitative tests.
• Prepares master mixes for PCR and QCs performance.
• Maintains clean work area and ensures quality control requirements.
• Instructs new employees and students in routine procedures.
