Job summary

The James Molecular Pathology Laboratory at The Ohio State University James Cancer Hospital is hiring a Medical Lab Technician-Processing. You will handle patient specimen processing, media preparation, and manual test-order entry, and assist with telephone inquiries and sample-related issue resolution.

You will participate in quality control, ongoing quality improvement, inventory control, and documentation.

Qualifications

• High school education required; Associates degree or higher preferred in medical laboratory technology or biological science or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Meets minimum continuing education requirements; health surveillance requirements.
• Demonstrates competence in technical, interpersonal and cognitive skills required to meet essential job functions.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient specimen processing and media/reagent preparation.
• Enter test orders manually and verify requisitions.
• Answer telephone inquiries and resolve sample-related errors.
• Participate in quality control, QA/QI and inventory control.
• Maintain databases and record-keeping for inspection readiness.
• Assist with safety and compliance under supervision of lab manager.
