The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking a Laboratory Student Technician for the Critical Care, Outpatient, and Outreach Laboratories. The role involves receiving, accessioning, and processing specimens, and supporting 24/7/365 operations in the critical care labs while outpatient hours are 8:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

Job Description

The Critical Care, Outpatient, and Outreach Laboratories encompass specimen collection, processing and testing services within the Department of Clinical Laboratories. The critical care laboratories are staffed 24 hours per day, Sunday through Saturday. The outpatient and outreach laboratories are staffed 8:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

Position Summary

The laboratory student technician receives, accessions, and processes laboratory specimens. This technician also transports specimens and answers telephone inquiries regarding patient results, specimen collection requirements, and test availability. This lab tech I works under the direction of the medical laboratory technician -- shift coordinator and lead medical technologist -- customer services.
