Job summary

Summit Polymers in Kalamazoo, MI is looking for a Mold Technician 1–3 to set up, start up, operate and shut down molding machines, follow lean procedures, and perform routine quality checks. You will support with machine changes, basic troubleshooting, and process adjustments while maintaining safety and housekeeping standards.

The role includes a progressive training path over three levels, with physical requirements such as lifting, standing, and framework compliance.

Qualifications

• Complete post-hire training modules within the specified time frames.
• Meet minimum DAT Mechanical Reasoning test percentile requirement.
• Meet the Wonderlic Select cognitive requirements.

Responsibilities

• Safely performing injection mold changes and machine start-ups in sequence and within time standards.
• Troubleshooting basic machine and equipment problems.
• Troubleshooting basic robot problems.
• Assisting with mold construction knowledge and initial troubleshooting.
• Maintaining Robot End‑Of‑Arm‑Tooling and performing basic repairs.
• Completing machine process adjustments to meet specifications.
• Identifying safety concerns and taking appropriate action.
• Communicating production concerns with peers across shifts.
• Assisting supervisor with shift activities and training.
• Completing daily production paperwork.
• Using Summit Lean Manufacturing Systems to monitor inventory and production.
• Following housekeeping principles and assisting operator breaks.
• Assisting grinding of runners and scrap parts as needed.
