Job summary

Colonial Group is seeking a Mold Technician at multiple levels (1-3) to set up, operate, and shut down molding machines, ensuring quality and safety. The role emphasizes following lean manufacturing methods, daily paperwork, and collaborating with the Supervisor, Manufacturing (Molding).

Technicians will progress through levels with training milestones over weeks to months, performing mold changes, start-ups, and routine maintenance while adhering to safety standards and environmental procedures.

Qualifications

• DAT Mechanical Reasoning score at or above the 50th percentile.
• Wonderlic Select score (Traditional 16 cognitive) at least, i.e. 50 overall.
• Must meet physical requirements: stand/walk entire shift and lift 60 lbs repeatedly.
• Must wear steel-toed footwear and follow PPE and safety rules.
• Crane license required and able to operate torque wrench safely.
• Ability to enter/revise molding press programming and basic troubleshooting.
• Able to assist with mold changes, startup/shutdown, and equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Safely performing injection mold changes and machine start-ups in proper sequence.
• Complying with SPI PPE requirements and lockout/tagout procedures.
• Troubleshooting basic machine, equipment, and robot problems.
• Assisting with mold construction knowledge and initial troubleshooting.
• Maintaining process documentation and quality checks.
• Communicating production concerns with peers and assisting supervision.
