Job summary

Bosch USA is seeking a Mold Technician to maintain injection molds and tooling, troubleshoot mold-related issues, and support production goals with strong safety practices. Responsibilities include mold setup, process startup/shutdown, KPI monitoring (OEE), preventative maintenance, and mentoring junior technicians.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required.
• Preferred: experience in plastic injection molding, mold setup, process technician, or related manufacturing role.
• Ability to safely operate overhead cranes and rigging equipment or obtain certification as required.
• Basic mechanical aptitude with ability to safely use hand tools, measuring devices, and maintenance equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret process sheets, setup instructions, safety procedures, technical manuals, and engineering documentation.
• Experience with 500–1,900 ton injection molding machines (Nissei, Krauss Maffei, Engel, or equivalent).
• Knowledge of Scientific Molding and Decoupled Molding principles.
• Experience with mold process monitoring systems, including cavity pressure transducers, sensors, and data acquisition equipment.
• Experience programming, operating, or troubleshooting six-axis robots (Nachi, Fanuc, or equivalent).
• Technical certifications or formal training such as RJG Master Molder, Paulson, Routsis, AIM, or equivalent programs.
• Experience using manufacturing performance metrics such as OEE, downtime, scrap, cycle time, and schedule adherence.
• Demonstrated participation in continuous improvement, root cause analysis, or scrap reduction initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Perform mold installation, removal, machine setup, material setup, and process startup/shutdown to ensure safe and efficient production.
• Monitor production zone KPIs including OEE, downtime, scrap, schedule adherence, and 5S.
• Verify job setups, process parameters, and production conditions to ensure quality parts.
• Troubleshoot molding processes, respond to machine alarms, remove stuck parts, and resolve issues to minimize downtime.
• Document daily activities, process changes, troubleshooting efforts, and production losses with accurate notes.
• Inspect molds after maintenance or modification and confirm production readiness.
• Maintain molds, ancillary equipment, water lines, and tooling through cleaning and preventive maintenance.
• Promote a safe, clean, and organized work environment with 5S and safety escalation.
• Train and mentor less experienced Mold Technicians.
• Participate in CI initiatives to reduce scrap and improve equipment performance.
• Assist with mold trials, new product launches, engineering evaluations, and validation activities.
• Support maintenance, engineering, quality, and production teams during troubleshooting.
• Maintain inventory of commonly used tooling and setup supplies.
• Participate in cross-functional meetings, audits, and training to support objectives.
• Recommend improvements to standard work, procedures, tooling, and processes.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
