Job summary

Silgan in Tolleson, AZ is hiring a Mold Shop Lead to oversee mold maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and mold changeovers for injection and compression molding operations.

In this hands-on leadership role, you’ll support Mold Maintenance Technicians and work with the Supervisor and Process Engineer to optimize molding processes, improve equipment performance, and keep molds operating reliably.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred; technical or trade schooling is a plus.
• Minimum 2 years of manufacturing experience.
• Experience with mold maintenance, repair, or injection molding.
• Experience with high-cavitation hot runner molds.
• Electrical troubleshooting experience with hot runner molds.
• Ability to read mold design prints and technical drawings.
• Strong mechanical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with calipers, micrometers, indicators, and measurement tools.
• Experience setting and starting molds in injection molding presses.
• Arburg, KraussMaffei, SACMI, or Sumitomo experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead mold maintenance, rebuilding, refurbishment, and repair.
• Perform in-press preventive maintenance on molds and components.
• Disassemble, clean, inspect, repair, and reassemble injection molds.
• Troubleshoot high-cavitation and multi-cavity hot runner molds.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues and hot runner systems.
• Set, remove, and assist with mold changeovers on molding machines.
• Maintain mold repair documentation, inventory, and EAM system records.
• Assist with injection molding process setup and optimization.
• Coordinate mold repairs with vendors.
• Support continuous improvement and safe work practices.

Silgan is hiring a Mold Shop Lead in Tolleson, AZ to lead mold maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and mold changeovers for injection and compression molding operations. What you’ll do

What you’ll need to have

• High school diploma preferred; technical or trade school education is a plus
• Minimum 2 years of manufacturing experience
• Experience with mold maintenance, mold repair, tooling, or injection molding
• Experience with high-cavitation hot runner molds
• Electrical troubleshooting experience with hot runner molds
• Ability to read mold design prints and technical drawings
• Strong mechanical and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency with calipers, micrometers, indicators, and other measurement tools
• Experience setting and starting molds in injection molding presses
• Arburg, KraussMaffei, SACMI, or Sumitomo experience is a plus
• Ability to support production schedules and emergency on-call needs when required
