Mold Set-Up Technician

Location: United States - SC - Fountain Inn

Job Description

Job Summary:

Ensure injection molding machines are properly set up and operated to meet customer quality standards and production goals. Connect electrical, hydraulic, and cooling systems to molds, set the correct plastic material, melt temperatures, shot size, injection speed, and pressures, then cycle the machine and adjust parameters until acceptable parts are produced.

Compensation:

• $19.82 - $28.47
• Shift premiums: 2nd shift +$0.50, 3rd shift +$1.00

Essential Functions:

• Maintain a safe work environment by following HSE and 5S policies and procedures.
• Change tools safely and efficiently per schedule or leadership instructions, utilizing crane and Lock-out Tag-out procedures.
• Follow established mold setting processes, setting up equipment based on mold requirements, materials, and tolerances.
• Maintain all tool change equipment and tools in a safe, clean storage area.
• Perform weekly preventive maintenance on machines and tools; handle clamping tools weighing 75 lbs or more, and lift weights over 40 lbs regularly.
• Conduct production runs and perform quality control tests before molds enter production.
• Report damaged tool change equipment to the Production Supervisor/Technical Manager.
• Use measuring and gauging tools for inspections before, during, and after molding operations.
• Attend training sessions and scheduled meetings.

Required Education:

• High School Diploma or equivalent work experience may be considered.

Required Qualifications:

• 1-3 years of experience with injection molding.
• 1-3 years of experience in the automotive industry.
• Ability and willingness to travel and work at customer sites, including industrial manufacturing plants, which may require climbing, lifting, or working in confined spaces.
