Job summary

TI Automotive in Grand Rapids, MI seeks a Mold Repair Technician responsible for maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of injection molds and tooling. This role requires diagnosing issues, precision repairs, and routine maintenance to maximize mold life and minimize downtime.

Responsibilities include repair work on hydraulic systems, hot runners, and TIG welding, plus reading blueprints and supporting new mold designs. Weekend availability is required and safety compliance is essential.

Qualifications

Technical certificate or equivalent required.
1 year injection molding experience preferred.
Must be able to work weekends.
Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical systems.
Detail-oriented with strong communication skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

Perform basic tooling preventive maintenance to ensure molds are production ready.
Conduct mold repairs, identifying root causes and implementing preventive measures.
Execute minor mold repairs both in and out of injection molding presses.
Troubleshoot and repair hot runner systems, including heaters and valve gates.
Repair and maintain mold hydraulic systems.
Operate dry ice blasting equipment for mold cleaning.
Utilize mold flush systems for internal mold maintenance.
Provide input during design and development of new molds.
Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
Perform TIG welding as required for mold repair and fabrication.
Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
