Job description

The Machine Operator sets up, operates, and is responsible for ensuring the machines produce high-quality products for our medical devices.

KEY ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Read and follow operating manuals, maintenance instructions, and procedures
  • Load component materials into product-specific tools
  • Perform in-process inspection of all parts and/or assemblies
  • Conduct various dimensional inspections using specific dies or gauges, or dimensional inspection systems and micrometers
  • Ability to perform basic manufacturing setup tasks
  • Work within standards and operating procedures to plan, perform, and make decisions regarding the setup and operations of a variety of production equipment, including automated machine processes and controls to perform routine assembly-line production functions of filling, packing, assembling, labeling, and inspecting
  • May perform clean-up functions in sterilized areas
  • Identify the need for minor equipment repairs
  • May analyze and evaluate charts, follow simple diagrams, test, and inspect procedures
  • Assist with root-cause analysis activities for process or product exceptions
  • May monitor quality by statistical process or other control procedures
  • Ensure accurate documentation of all relevant quality, safety, and maintenance documents
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve basic issues associated with the machine performance and/or product quality
  • Perform other duties as required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Can effectively work in a team setting and communicate effectively across the department
  • Demonstrates the ability to follow established procedures according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to be punctual to ensure production
  • Ability to work on assignments that are semi-routine with the skill to recognize any deviations from the specification
  • Ability to operate independently within the constraints of approved process-related
  • Must be proficient in English with the ability to read, write, analyze/evaluate charts, follow simple diagrams and perform basic arithmetic
  • Basic proficiency with PCs (Personal Computers) and basic use of a Windows environment is required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The employee is required to work in a cleanroom environment and is expected to follow the guidelines and rules for working in the cleanroom. This includes following the gowning procedure, covering hair in a hairnet, and wearing personal protective equipment as appropriate.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • The employee is frequently required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • The employee is frequently required to sit for extensive periods.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is frequently required to use wrists, hands, and/or fingers in a repetitive motion.
  • The employee is frequently required to see clearly when viewing objects at a close distance to discern visual defects in the part.
