Job summary

Anne Arundel Dermatology in Tarpon Springs, FL, seeks a detail-oriented Mohs Medical Assistant to support Mohs surgeries, manage patient intake, and handle specimens. You will work closely with the Mohs surgeon, perform pre- and post-operative tasks, and ensure sterile techniques and accurate documentation in the EMR.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of recent Medical Assistant or similar clinical experience.
• Dermatology or Mohs surgery experience is a plus.
• CMA or RMA or CPR certification preferred.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and infection control standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist Mohs surgeon during surgeries and excisions (passing instruments, blotting, suturing support).
• Maintain sterile technique; prepare rooms, instruments, and sterile trays.
• Prepare local anesthesia syringes under supervision.
• Collect, label, and process pathology specimens; route to labs per insurance requirements.
• Escort patients to exam rooms; take history, vital signs, consent, and answer questions.
• Apply post-operative wound care instructions and educate patients.
• Document patient interactions and procedures in the EMR system (EMA); notify results.
• Maintain exam rooms, sterilize instruments, restock supplies, and follow HIPAA protocols.
