Job summary

QualDerm Partners in Hickory, NC is seeking an experienced Mohs Surgery Medical Assistant to support Mohs surgeons during procedures, prepare patients, and contribute to a collaborative clinical team.

Dermatology experience is required; Mohs or surgical dermatology experience is a strong plus. You will assist with documentation, maintain patient comfort, and uphold safety and infection control standards during procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Medical Assistant certification or surgical technician training preferred.
• Experience working in dermatology is required.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology and surgical aseptic techniques.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and clinical staff.
• Ability to multitask and work well under pressure in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and healthcare software.
• Commitment to patient confidentiality and adherence to HIPAA regulations and clinical protocols.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for Mohs surgery by taking medical histories, recording vital signs, and addressing patient concerns.
• Assist surgeons by preparing and handling surgical instruments and equipment during procedures.
• Ensure the surgical environment is maintained in compliance with safety and infection control standards.
• Provide post-operative instructions and support to patients to promote optimal recovery.
• Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient interactions and procedures in electronic health records (EHR).
• Coordinate with administrative staff to schedule appointments and follow-up visits efficiently.
