Job summary

Boston Metal is seeking a Process Engineer to advance its Molten Oxide Electrolysis platform, developing predictive models to guide operating strategy and control across unit operations to plant-wide integration.

You will work hands-on with plant operations and experiments, bridging technology development with economic optimization while emphasizing robust and safe process implementation. Opportunities for growth exist within a small team environment.

Qualifications

• BS with >3 years or MS/PhD in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Chemistry, or related field
• Ability to translate open-ended engineering challenges into modeling frameworks and synthesize actionable recommendations
• Strong grasp of chemical engineering principles (mass/energy balances, thermodynamics, transport phenomena)
• Proficiency in Python for scientific computing, modeling, data analysis, and visualization
• Willingness to be hands-on and engage with plant operations and experiments
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Willingness to travel internationally for at least 2 weeks per quarter

Responsibilities

• Develop predictive models to guide operational strategy and process control
• Create steady-state to dynamic models for unit operations to plant-wide scales
• Incorporate heat and mass balances, optimization, and operations research
• Engage with plant operations and experimental programs to ground models in reality
• Collaborate with Process Engineering team and report to the Manager of Process Engineering
• Travel internationally for project deployments as needed
