Job summary

Zero Carbon Systems seeks a Process Modeling Engineer to bridge theoretical modeling, process design, and plant operations. The role leverages internal models to develop a rigorous TEA guiding operating points for demo and production facilities.

You will optimize across weather, location, and configuration, and sharpen capital estimates through vendor feedback and design review. The position is full-time and can be based in Brighton, Colorado or performed remotely, reporting to the Process

Qualifications

• Degree in chemical engineering or a related field; graduate degree preferred.
• 7+ years of experience post undergraduate degree.
• Prior TEA experience for highly integrated industrial processes.
• Hands-on process engineering experience in an industrial setting or chemical manufacturing plant.
• Proficiency with Excel, VBA, Python, JMP, or similar tools.

Responsibilities

• Use and develop internal process modeling tools to guide operating points for demo and production facilities.
• Update and refine process models based on design improvements and data; optimize ACM models.
• Translate Aspen models to Excel outputs for equipment lists and sizing; automate with VBA.
• Translate model outputs into ACCE and other cost estimation tools; compare internally and with external firms.
• Specify equipment and cost bases using ACCE estimates and vendor quotes; develop shortcut models.
