Job summary
Boston Metal seeks a Process Development Engineer to accelerate the Molten Oxide Electrolysis (MOE) platform, designing experiments and analyzing results from pilot-scale ops and R&D. You will validate process parameters, develop flow diagrams, and communicate findings across teams to drive scalable industrial deployment.
The role requires a strong foundation in electrochemistry and chemical engineering, with experience in metals characterization and a startup mindset.
Qualifications
- B.S. with >5 years of experience, M.S. with >2 years of experience, or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related field
- Demonstrated ability to generate actionable learnings through experiment design and execution
- Willingness to travel internationally for at least 2 weeks a quarter
- Strong grasp of electrochemistry principles (e.g., charge transfer, Current-Voltage relationships)
- Strong grasp of chemical engineering principles (mass and energy balances, thermodynamics, transport phenomena)
- Proficiency in one or more of FactSage, CAD, COMSOL, and Python
- Experience in characterization of metals and materials (XRF, LECO, SEM…)

- Design experiments to validate and improve process parameters and flow diagrams
- Analyze and present experimental results to cross-functional teams
- Interface across teams to communicate findings and achieve goals
