Job summary

Rune is seeking a hands-on Data Center Engineer to support operation, maintenance, and expansion of modular data center infrastructure at solar sites in Texas. You will maintain high-value compute hardware, troubleshoot faults, and participate in deployments with field teams.

The role requires daily on-site work, strong experience with enterprise server hardware, HPC, and networking, plus the ability to document activities and work safely in mission-critical environments.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in data center operations, field service engineering, or a closely related technical role.
• Experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining enterprise-class server hardware.
• Experience installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining physical networking infrastructure, including fiber-optic connections and switches.
• Ability to work independently in a field-based environment while maintaining high safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Server Infrastructure Maintenance & Repair: perform diagnostics, repairs, and component-level fixes on enterprise and GPU-based compute servers.
• Monitoring & Operational Reliability: investigate alarms, perform preventive maintenance, and document health checks.
• Networking & Infrastructure Support: install and maintain network switches, transceivers, and cabling; validate connectivity.
• Site Deployment & Expansion: participate in installation, integration, and commissioning of new modular data center equipment.
• Safety, Documentation & Operational Standards: follow safety procedures and document activities in tracking systems.
