Job summary

Amherst Operating Services in Texas is seeking an Engineering Manager – Modular Factory to lead all engineering functions within a modular construction manufacturing facility. This role oversees design standardization, production engineering, structural integrity, and continuous improvement to ensure code-compliant, cost-effective modular building solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Structural, Civil, Mechanical) required.
• 7–12+ years in modular construction, prefabrication, or related field.
• 3–5+ years in a leadership or management role.
• PE license preferred (or ability to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of structural, architectural, and MEP engineers/designers.
• Establish engineering standards, best practices, and design guidelines for modular construction.
• Oversee workload planning, staffing, and performance management.
• Develop standardized modular designs and product platforms.
• Review structural calculations, shop drawings, and engineered details.
• Drive design-for-manufacturing and design-for-assembly initiatives.
• Collaborate with plant operations to optimize production workflows.
• Ensure designs meet building codes (IBC, IRC, state modular programs).
• Maintain documentation for plan approvals and regulatory submissions.
• Lead lean initiatives to reduce cost and cycle times.
