Job summary

Z Modular, a division of Zekelman Industries, is seeking a motivated Architectural Designer Intern to join our team for Summer 2027. This on-site internship opportunity is based in Troy, MI, and the official Zekelman internship program runs from May 24, 2027 through August 13, 2027.

Reporting directly to the Architectural Project Manager, you will gain hands-on experience supporting the design and development of modular building solutions that help shape communities across North America.

Qualifications

• Pursuing architecture degree (Bachelors or Masters) in a relevant field.
• GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Knowledge and experience with Revit.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong problem-solving, organization, and detail orientation.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing architectural plans, sections, elevations, details, and other drafting tasks under the direction of a Project Architect.
• Prepare shop drawings for plant fabrication using Revit.
• Develop construction details for both shop installation and site-built conditions.
• Research and identify products such as finishes and fixtures.
• Research building codes and other standards for compliance.
• Join team members for occasional on-site project observations in Arizona and Texas.
• Provide solutions to daily design, sequencing, or integration challenges within the plant or on-site.
• Promote safe and healthy work practices in compliance with company policy and regulatory standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
