Job summary

Sinclair Community College is seeking part-time (adjunct) faculty for its Modern Languages program, teaching French, Spanish, Japanese, Russian, Chinese, German, and other world languages. Courses span day, evening, online, and weekend formats across Dayton and surrounding campuses.

Starting pay is $1,046 per credit hour assigned to teach, with residency restrictions to Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky for eligibility.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in the content area or related field required; master’s degree preferred.
• Ability to fluently speak a foreign language preferred (Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Russian, Spanish).
• Experience in teaching and willingness to use innovative teaching strategies.
• Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work in a community college environment.
• Official transcripts and background check required prior to hire.

Responsibilities

• Adjunct faculty teach curriculum developed by the department.
• Plan and organize instruction to maximize student learning.
• Prepare and provide syllabi for all assigned sections per policies.
• Employ teaching methods and technology appropriately.
• Modify methods to meet diverse student needs.
• Support classroom and online efforts to promote student success.
• Evaluate and return student work promptly to promote learning.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress.
• Submit final grade rosters by deadlines.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information.
• Adjunct Faculty cannot exceed 12 credit hours per semester.
