Job summary

Maternal and Family Health Services in Mobile, AL seeks a full-time Program Assistant for its Mobile WIC unit operating in southern counties. The role collects data, conducts screenings for client eligibility, and delivers WIC benefits and nutrition education in accordance with program procedures.

The position involves driving the mobile unit, maintaining supplies, coordinating with partners, and ensuring safety and sanitation of the unit while serving diverse communities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associates Degree preferred but not required.
• 1–3 years experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred in some sites.
• Experience driving a box truck and operating a mobile unit.
• Knowledge of WIC program procedures is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Explain WIC program purpose and participant rights and responsibilities.
• Verify ID, residency, income eligibility for applicants.
• Perform hematological and anthropometric measurements.
• Provide nutrition and breastfeeding guidance per policy.
• Explain and administer E-WIC card procedures and food instruments.
• Schedule WIC appointments and manage mobile unit operations.
• Maintain inventory and supplies for the mobile unit.
• Deliver WIC services to designated locations and collaborate with partners.
• Operate the mobile unit safely and keep it clean and maintained.
• Attend outreach events and support program goals.
