Job summary

Heartstrings Pet Hospice & In-Home Euthanasia is seeking compassionate veterinarians to provide in-home hospice and end-of-life care. You will practice on the road, with a focus on patient comfort and family support, in the Portland metro area and surrounding communities.

The role emphasizes independent practice with strong mentorship, flexible scheduling (2–5 days/week, self-managed options), and a generous benefits package. Expect meaningful work without traditional clinic pace.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD/BVMS) is required.
• Valid U.S. Driver's License is required.
• Flexible scheduling with weekends chosen by you.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and up to 90 lbs with assistance.
• License verification, background check, and driving record review required.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-home hospice and euthanasia care to pets in the home setting.
• Practice veterinary medicine independently on the road as part of a supportive team.
• Offer compassionate, patient-centered communication to families during end-of-life care.
