Job summary

Hirschbach Motor Lines seeks a fleet maintenance technician focused on trailer repair and preventive maintenance to join our team.

You will diagnose and repair Class 8 equipment, document repairs, perform PM’s, and ensure accurate paperwork, with CDL A preferred and a strong benefits package including uniforms, training, and a 401(k) match.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent in education.
• Two years’ experience in Fleet Maintenance or a Technical School Degree.
• Experience with repair, maintenance, and diagnosis of Class 8 equipment.
• Welding skills in non-standard situations and on varying materials.
• Basic computer skills for diagnostic tooling.

Responsibilities

• Identify, diagnose, and resolve trailer related problems.
• Complete repair orders and related paperwork accurately and timely.
• Perform preventive maintenance on trailer equipment.
• Categorize repairs by maintenance type according to standards.
• Record parts used and scan barcodes as needed.
• Document repair stories about failures and corrections for warranty recovery.
• Work physically: bending, lifting up to 100 pounds, climbing.
• Work in inclement weather.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Identifies, diagnoses, and resolves trailer related problems
• Responsible for the accurate and timely completion of necessary company paperwork repair orders, indirect labor forms, etc
• Performs preventive maintenance (PM’s) ontrailer equipment as assigned
• Properly categorize repairs (i.e. Preventative Maintenance, Component Failure, Abuse, and Accident, according to current company standards)
• Accurately record parts and supplies used in performing repairs, which may include scanning bar codes of parts, and recording consumable supplies
• Accurately record repair stories in order to properly document complaints, causes and corrections of component failures, and enable the company to recover warrantable expenses
• Position includes bending, lifting (up to 100 pounds), climbing, as it relates to maintenance of Class 8 equipment
• Ability and willingness to work in inclement weather

Talent Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent in education
• Two years’ experience in Fleet Maintenance, or Technical School Degree
• Previous experience with the repair, maintenance, and diagnosis of Class 8 equipment not limited to general driver repair requests, warranty repair requests, on-board vehicle electronics, etc
• Previous experience with general welding skills in non-standard situations and on varying materials
• Basic computer skills as it applies to diagnostic tooling
