Job summary

Hirschbach Motor Lines in Laredo, TX seeks a trailer maintenance technician to diagnose and repair Class 8 equipment and to perform preventive maintenance. You will ensure accurate paperwork and records, while supporting a local shift with a $3/hr premium.

Requirements include a High School diploma and 2+ years in fleet maintenance or technical training; welding and basic computer skills are valued. Benefits include comprehensive medical plans, 401(k) with match, PTO, and training opportunities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years’ experience in Fleet Maintenance or technical school degree preferred.
• Experience with repair, maintenance, and diagnosis of Class 8 equipment.
• Welding skills in non-standard situations and varying materials.
• Basic computer skills for diagnostic tooling.

Responsibilities

• Identifies, diagnoses, and resolves trailer related problems.
• Completes accurate and timely company paperwork repair orders and related forms.
• Performs preventive maintenance on trailer equipment as assigned.
• Categorizes repairs and documents causes and corrections.
• Records parts and supplies used, including scanning bar codes.

Schedule

• Monday - Friday, 4:00pm-12:30am
• $3/hr shift premium on top of hourly rate
• Local position - no overnight stays!

Duties & Responsibilities

• Identifies, diagnoses, and resolves trailer related problems
• Responsible for the accurate and timely completion of necessary company paperwork repair orders, indirect labor forms, etc
• Performs preventive maintenance (PM’s) on trailer equipment as assigned
• Properly categorize repairs (i.e. Preventative Maintenance, Component Failure, Abuse, and Accident, according to current company standards)
• Accurately record parts and supplies used in performing repairs, which may include scanning bar codes of parts, and recording consumable supplies
• Accurately record repair stories in order to properly document complaints, causes and corrections of component failures, and enable the company to recover warrantable expenses
• Position includes bending, lifting (up to 100 pounds), climbing, as it relates to maintenance of Class 8 equipment
• Ability and willingness to work in inclement weather

Talent Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent in education
• Two years’ experience in Fleet Maintenance, or Technical School Degree
• Previous experience with the repair, maintenance, and diagnosis of Class 8 equipment not limited to general driver repair requests, warranty repair requests, on-board vehicle electronics, etc
• Previous experience with general welding skills in non-standard situations and on varying materials
• Basic computer skills as it applies to diagnostic tooling
