Job summary

Hirschbach Motor Lines is hiring a Local Fleet Maintenance Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain Class 8 trailer equipment. The role emphasizes accurate paperwork, preventive maintenance, and proper repair documentation.

Expect a local daytime schedule with no overnight stays, access to a full benefit plan, uniforms provided with laundry, annual tool and boot allowances, OEM training, and a 401(k) plan with company match.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Two years’ experience in Fleet Maintenance or technical training.
• Experience with repair/diagnosis of Class 8 equipment.
• Basic welding skills in varying materials.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Able to lift up to 75 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Identify, diagnose, and resolve trailer-related problems.
• Complete repair orders and paperwork accurately and timely.
• Perform preventive maintenance on trailer equipment.
• Categorize repairs per company standards (PM, component failure, abuse, accident).
• Record parts and repairs, including barcode scans and consumables.
• Document repair histories to support warranty recoveries.
• Work in conditions including bending and lifting up to 100 pounds.
• Willingness to work in inclement weather.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Identifies, diagnoses, and resolves trailer related problems
• Responsible for the accurate and timely completion of necessary company paperwork repair orders, indirect labor forms, etc
• Performs preventive maintenance (PM’s) on trailer equipment as assigned
• Properly categorize repairs (i.e. Preventative Maintenance, Component Failure, Abuse, and Accident, according to current company standards)
• Accurately record parts and supplies used in performing repairs, which may include scanning bar codes of parts, and recording consumable supplies
• Accurately record repair stories in order to properly document complaints, causes and corrections of component failures, and enable the company to recover warrantable expenses
• Position includes bending, lifting (up to 100 pounds), climbing, as it relates to maintenance of Class 8 equipment
• Ability and willingness to work in inclement weather

Talent Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent in education
• Two years’ experience in Fleet Maintenance, or Technical School Degree
• Previous experience with the repair, maintenance, and diagnosis of Class 8 equipment not limited to general driver repair requests, warranty repair requests, on-board vehicle electronics, etc
• Previous experience with general welding skills in non-standard situations and on varying materials
• Basic computer skills as it applies to diagnostic tooling
• Valid Driver's License required
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs
