Job summary

FleetPride, Inc. in Mobile, AL is seeking an experienced diesel technician to inspect vehicles and perform maintenance on heavy-duty trucks and trailers. You will diagnose issues, service brakes, suspensions, electrical systems, and test drive to verify repairs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Diesel technology certification/degree is a plus.
• 3+ years of experience repairing Class 7 & 8 trucks & trailers.
• Welding experience preferred.
• Air Brake Certified.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• CDL-A preferred but not required.
• Must provide hand tools, air tools, and toolbox.
• Maintain perfect safety record.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Examine vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunction(s).
• Provide customers with preventative maintenance solutions when appropriate.
• Maintain 80% productivity.
• Prevent comebacks.
• Perform inspections and preventative maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, lubrications and filter replacements.
• Repair, reline, replace, and adjust brakes (air, hydraulic, electric and brake accessories).
• Test drive vehicles and test components using proper equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair suspension systems including leaf and coil springs.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, exhaust systems, steering systems, A/C, PTOs and exhausts.
• Adjust, remove and replace clutches and drivelines.
• Troubleshoot and repair fuel tanks, fifth wheels, trailer hitches, and frames.
• Perform tandem alignment and king pin/bushing repairs.
• Perform basic aluminum and steel welding.
• Use machinery to repair or fabricate driveshafts.
• File, grind and finish surfaces with tools.
• Remove upholstery and components to access vehicle bodies.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace and service truck.
• Practice safe driving.

Education

High school diploma or GED

Diesel Technology certificate/degree

3+ years of experience repairing Class 7 & 8 trucks & trailers

Welding

Air Brake Certified

Valid driver’s license

Class A CDL preferred

Provide hand tools, air tools, and toolbox

Maintain safety record
