Job Summary

We are hiring a Mobile Trailer Repair Technician II to perform certified DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, and light repairs on trailers and related equipment at customer sites. The role requires independent work, documentation via our TRAIT app, and adherence to safety and company policies.

Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on trailers and equipment.
  • Conduct DOT inspections and complete all required documentation accurately.
  • Use hand tools, precision instruments, welding equipment, and jacks for minor adjustments and repairs on trailer brakes, air lines, auxiliary pumps, engines, lift‑gates, brake chambers, welding, fabrication, and panel replacement.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical components.
  • Manage parts inventory and periodically reconcile it with the company‑issued service truck.
  • Operate the company‑issued service vehicle, including safety checks and pre‑/post‑trip inspections.
  • Communicate with customers, understand their needs, and provide professional assistance.
  • Prioritize assigned tasks, maintain productivity, and meet standard repair times.
  • Carry out unscheduled service requests dispatched from the call center.
  • Work independently while adhering to safety, health, and environmental policies (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
  • Participate in all in‑company safety training and maintain certifications.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED and at least 3 years of experience in trailer maintenance (or equivalent).
  • Ability to provide a set of hand tools required for job duties.
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record; CDL ClassC license required.
  • Candidate must be at least 21 years old and able to pass DOT‑regulated background checks, a DOT physical, or provide a DOT medical card with >4 months validity.
  • Completion of DOT‑regulated safety training (SPM, WAT, DCR, and ATOA).
  • ASE T8 (PMI) certification required or obtained within 18 months; preferred certifications include ASE 608/609, ASET4 (brakes), ASET5 (suspension), ASET6 (electrical), and ASET7 (HVAC).
  • Strong knowledge of trailer parts and systems, the ability to perform mechanical repairs, and the capacity to lift, bend, climb, and stand for extended periods.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with customers and team members.

  • Physical stamina to handle moderate heavy labor and repetitive tasks.

  • Effective two‑way communication and documentation skills.
