Job summary

Garmin is seeking a Senior Software Engineer - Mobile Development for its U.S. headquarters or Cary, NC office on the Garmin Labs team. You will provide technical leadership, design and develop mobile software, and mentor junior engineers while guiding technical direction.

You will contribute to advanced research, collaborate on architecture reviews, and deliver reliable solutions to challenging mobile problems across Android and iOS platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Software/CE or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Excellent academic record (GPA ≥ 3.0 as general rule).
• Proficiency in Kotlin, Java, Swift or other languages for mobile development.
• Experience building Android and/or iOS apps using native SDKs.
• Design of well-architected software systems and modules for new tech or improved performance.
• Ability to lead complex software projects and provide peer technical assessments.
• Capable of decomposing requirements into well-defined tasks while balancing quality, quantity, and complexity.
• Strong understanding of OO design, software architecture, data structures, and algorithms.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• May serve as Lead Software Engineer for complex projects and review modules.
• Decompose functional requirements into well-defined tasks.
• Provide peer technical assessments in areas of expertise and new technologies.
• Contribute to project leadership and product development planning.
• Mentor less experienced engineers on Garmin Labs team.
• Collaborate in peer code and architecture reviews and tech discussions.
• Provide reliable solutions to difficult problems using sound problem-solving techniques.
