Job summary

Garmin Ltd. in the United States (Greater Kansas City area) is seeking a full-time Software Engineer 2 - Mobile Development on the Garmin Labs team. You will develop moderately complex software and design solutions for new functionalities for Garmin products and applications.

The role requires developing Android and/or iOS apps using Kotlin, Java, or Swift, collaborating in code reviews, and mentoring junior engineers while applying OO design principles and efficient data structures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field and a minimum of 1 year relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• GPA >= 3.0 as a general rule
• Proficiency in Kotlin, Java, Swift or other selected languages for moderately complex software
• Experience developing Android and/or iOS mobile applications
• Familiarity with object-oriented design, data structures and algorithms

Responsibilities

• Utilizes software engineering tools in the development process
• May act as technical lead or lead software engineer for derivative projects
• Participates in peer code reviews and provides constructive feedback
• Delivers reliable solutions using sound problem-solving techniques
• Performs root cause analysis and outlines corrective actions
• Contributes to research on new technologies
• Estimates effort, evaluates options, and suggests design improvements
• Mentors less experienced engineers (Software Engineer 1)
