Job summary

Bill McCandless Ford, Inc. is seeking a customer-oriented Mobile Service Technician to service vehicles at the customers' locations or dealership lots. You will operate a Mobile Service vehicle, prepare for daily appointments, perform diagnostics, repairs, and align with factory standards.

Responsibilities include accurate work orders, cost estimation for labor and parts, testing components, and maintaining records. Travel area coverage is required year-round with excellent customer service.”

Qualifications

• Experience as automotive technician with strong customer service skills.
• Ability to communicate technical info in clear, non-technical terms.
• Willingness to travel in the Mobile Service Vehicle year-round.
• Adherence to safety procedures and company policies.

Responsibilities

• Operate Mobile Service vehicle professionally and keep unit clean and stocked.
• Prepare vehicle with parts for daily appointments.
• Complete work orders accurately per procedures.
• Perform quality work per dealership and factory standards.
• Learn new automotive tech information in training sessions.
• Prepare cost estimates for labor and parts for upsells.
• Reconcile invoices and coordinate payment with Mobile Service Coordinators.
• Test-drive and diagnose vehicle systems using diagnostic tools.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work.
• Execute repairs per manufacturer specifications and warranty claims.
• Maintain a safe, clean work area and follow safety rules.
• Collaborate with Service Advisor to inform customers about further work.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Operate assigned Mobile Service vehicle in a professional manner and according to company requirements; keep unit clean and well stocked.
• Preparing the vehicle with any needed parts for that day's appointments
• Accurately complete work orders and other written materials according to established procedures
• Efficiently and accurately perform quality work in accordance with dealerships and factory standards
• Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in training sessions to stay abreast with rapidly changing automotive technology
• Demonstrates behavior consistent with the Company’s Values in all interactions with customers and co-workers
• Prepares complete and accurate estimate of cost for labor and parts for any recommended maintenance upsell
• Reconciling the customers final invoice with the work performed on the repair order and working with Mobile Service Coordinators to collect any payment due before leaving
• Perform work specified on the repair order with efficiency and in accordance with dealership standards.
• Test-drive vehicles, and test components and systems, using diagnostic tools and special service equipment.
• Diagnose, maintain, and repair vehicle automotive systems including engine, transmission, electrical steering, suspension, brakes, air conditioning, etc.
• Communicate directly with the Service Advisor so that customers can be informed if any additional service is needed. Provide an estimate of time needed for additional repairs.
• Complete all tasks assigned in a timely manner and maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work.
• Execute repairs under warranty to manufacturer specifications.
• Maintain the work area in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Prior automotive technician & customer service experience required
• Travel around the area in the Mobile Service Vehicle is required all year round
• Possess Excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills
• Bring a positive, upbeat attitude to this role and be completely comfortable with customers.
• Excellent follow-up and follow-through skills to ensure client satisfaction
• Must have the ability to communicate technical information in non-technical terms
• Ability to evolve and adapt to changing business needs
• Must adhere to safety procedures
• Must be able to work overtime and/or Saturdays as needed
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.
