Job summary

Jobtailor in San Francisco is seeking a forward-deployed mobile engineering lead to own iOS and Android features end-to-end, from UI to on-device logic with a focus on performance and reliability.

You will design SDK interfaces for partner integrations and work cross-functionally with product, hardware, and AI teams to drive cohesive device-to-cloud experiences and AI-assisted development.

Job description

• Serve as the forward-deployed engineering point of contact for international partners / customers — support direct integration hands-on, troubleshoot issues, ensure a compliant integration path, and channel real-world customer needs back into the SDK and roadmap.
• Own the mobile app and SDK across iOS and Android — from UI / interaction down to application logic and on-device capabilities behind core product features.
• Work true full-stack: start from the mobile client and reach across the API layer and backend to deliver complete, working features end to end.
• Design clean, well-documented, compliant SDK interfaces for partner and third-party integrations, built for easy adoption and long-term maintainability.
• Drive AI-assisted development across the team and own reliability / performance of the full client-to-service pipeline, partnering with hardware/firmware, product, and AI teams on cohesive device ↔ app ↔ cloud experiences.

Requirements

• Shipped mobile features on iOS and/or Android (Swift / Kotlin) and can own them — or proven ability to ramp into native mobile quickly.
• Genuine full-stack capability — can extend from the mobile client across API design and backend services to own a feature in its entirety (weighted ABOVE deep mobile specialization).
• Hands-on, production use of AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) with judgment on when to trust vs. verify output.
• Strong ownership + solid fundamentals: system design, testing, debugging, sound trade-offs; comfortable across native and cross-platform (React Native / Flutter).
• Proven cross-functional collaboration with product, hardware/device, and AI teams.
