Job summary

AITX Repair Services in Gonzales, LA, is seeking a Mobile Railcar Repair Technician to perform repairs and preventive maintenance on railcars. You will read blueprints, weld with MIG/Flux/Stick processes, and document work to FRA and AAR standards.

The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and timely completion within paid hours, with paid training and opportunities for advancement. On-site work with a strong benefits package and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• High school level reading/writing in English.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
• Comfortable working around heavy equipment and on top of railcars.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs using hand and power tools and MIG/Flux /Stick Welding.
• Interpret job work orders to perform required repairs.
• Coordinate and complete repairs in an efficient manner and within assigned hours.
• Follow all safety rules, keep work area clean and comply with all EHS policies.
• Ensure AAR, ARS and customer quality assurance standards are met.

A Mobile Railcar Repair Technician at this facility will be responsible for all aspects of railcar repair and maintenance. The team members must be able to read and understand blueprints, make car repairs in compliance with FRA and AAR rules and keep good repair records. As well as ensuring all company guidelines, quality assurance and safety rules are followed and met while performing job duties.

Job Duties

• Perform repairs using hand and power tools and MIG/Flux /Stick Welding
• Interpret job work orders to perform required repairs
• Coordinate and complete repairs in an efficient manner and within assigned hours
• Follow all safety rules, keep work area clean and comply with all AITX EHS Policies
• Ensure AAR, ARS and customer quality assurance standards are met
  

Job Requirements

• Ability to read and write English at a high school level
• Ability to work in the heat and cold and in all-weather conditions
• Comfortable working around heavy equipment and on top of and under railcars, as well as around railroad tracks.
• Knowledge of machines and tools required to weld, cut and gouge
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions including basic blueprints and schematics.
• Basic mechanical skills and the ability to read a tape measure
• Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen
• Ability to drive a company vehicle; must have a valid driver's license in good standing
