Job summary

AITX Repair Services seeks Railcar Repair Technicians to perform repair and maintenance on railcars, reading blueprints and adhering to FRA and AAR rules. The role requires reading and writing in English at a high school level and a willingness to work in all weather, around heavy equipment and railcars.

Candidate must have basic mechanical skills, ability to read tape measures, and be capable of welding, cutting and gouging. Pre-employment screening will be conducted as part of the process.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and write English at a high school level.
• Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and schematics.
• Knowledge of welding, cutting and gouging processes.
• Proficient mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions and read a tape measure.

Responsibilities

• Interpret job work orders to perform required repairs.
• Coordinate and complete repairs efficiently within assigned hours.
• Follow safety rules and maintain a clean work area; comply with EHS policies.
• Ensure quality assurance standards are met for AAR, ARS, and customer specifications.

A Railcar Repair Technician at this facility will be responsible for all aspects of railcar repair and maintenance. The team members must be able to read and understand blueprints, make car repairs in compliance with FRA and AAR rules and keep good repair records. As well as ensuring all company guidelines , quality assurance and safety rules are followed and met while performing job duties.

Job Duties

• Interpret job work orders to perform required repairs
• Coordinate and complete repairs in an efficient manner and within assigned hours
• Follow all safety rules, keep work area clean and comply with all AITX EHS Policies
• Ensure AAR, ARS and customer quality assurance standards are met
  
  

Job Requirements

• Ability to read and write English at a high school level
• Ability to w ork in the heat and cold and in all-weather conditions
• C omfortable work ing around heavy equipment and on top of and under railcars, as well as around railroad tracks.
• Knowledge of machines and tools required to weld, cut and gouge
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions including basic blueprints and schematics.
• Basic mechanical skills and the ability to read a tape measure
