Job summary

Cape Cod Healthcare Laboratory in Massachusetts is seeking a Patient Service Tech - CLAB6 to join the Outreach team. The role focuses on quality patient care through specimen collection, processing, LIS data entry, and clear communication with physicians and patients, across multiple sites.

You will perform phlebotomy via venipuncture, finger and heel sticks, and support home or nursing home collections as required. A basic phlebotomy program completion and MA driver’s license are expected.

Qualifications

• Read, write and communicate in English.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid US driver’s license upon hire; MA license within 60 days.
• Successful completion of a basic phlebotomy program or related experience.
• Certificate in phlebotomy preferred.
• MVR-compliant driving record required.
• Driver Safety Training every 2 years.
• Medical terminology knowledge preferred.
• MS Office and keyboarding skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide front-line customer service for the laboratory.
• Collect blood samples via venipuncture, finger, and heel sticks.
• Process specimens per guidelines; maintain temperature for accuracy.
• Register patient demographics into LIS accurately.
• Enter physician orders into LIS on correct patient accounts.
• Rotate to multiple CCHC Laboratories sites within region.
• Communicate results and confirm specimen identity with physicians.
• Handle specimen problems and inform supervisor as needed.
• Occasional stat draws at nursing homes or physician offices.
• On-call rotation per contract.
• Restock supplies and maintain phlebotomy areas.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness of drawing rooms.
• Collaborate with laboratory staff and other departments.
• Provide service excellence to patients and colleagues.
• Perform other duties as directed by manager.
