Job summary

TridentCare in California is seeking a Phlebotomist to collect blood samples at client facilities, primarily nursing homes. You will drive your own vehicle, follow phlebotomy procedures, and identify patients before draw.

The role requires a valid driver’s license, knowledge of medical terminology, and proficiency in specimen handling. You will maintain records, cooperate with dispatch and lab staff, and report equipment issues.

Qualifications

• Current clinical licensure, if required by state.
• Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to lab work.
• Proficient in phlebotomy procedures including venipuncture and prep.
• Knowledge of specimen preservation and patient preparation.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and auto insurance.

Responsibilities

• Drive to client facilities (mostly nursing homes) in personal vehicle as directed.
• Follow established phlebotomy procedures for obtaining blood samples from patients.
• Identify patients prior to drawing.
• Label specimens correctly with requisition and billing info.
• Follow policy on transporting PHI.
• Plan and organize draw schedule with patient priority in mind.
• Complete logs, time sheets and other records neatly and accurately.
• Work cooperatively with dispatch, payroll, lab and courier departments.
• Maintain all equipment in good working order and report issues promptly.
• Be available on duty and respond to mobile device alerts.
• Notify dispatch of availability for future assignments.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Area Phlebotomy Supervisor.
