Job summary

American Engineering Testing Inc is seeking a Traveling Pavements Technician to perform field and laboratory quality control testing of soils under supervision. The role involves following QA/QC procedures and industry standards, with responsibilities spanning laboratory work, field sampling, and reporting for pavement projects.

Applicants should be able to travel regionally, conduct field work outdoors in varied conditions, and maintain safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2-year vocational or college degree preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with clients and coworkers.
• Ability to work independently in the field and in teams; adapt to outdoor field conditions.

Responsibilities

• Assist with laboratory testing of construction materials.
• Operate Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR).
• Operate and maintain Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD).
• Perform field sampling (coring and hand auger borings).
• Prepare test reports and site observations.
• Communicate with project managers, clients, contractors, and staff.
• Support safety policies and QA procedures on site.
