Job summary

Akumin is hiring a Patient Coordinator for a mobile unit stationed at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, NJ. The role will support registration, patient flow, and documentation in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Responsibilities include greeting patients, handling registrations, answering inquiries, collecting payments, and verifying insurance. CPR may be required and the position may involve travel between sites to support operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• CPR certification must be obtained prior to hire.
• Valid state driver’s license may be required.
• Ability to work at multiple locations and travel as needed.
• Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patients, customers and visitors in person and over the phone.
• Register patients in various systems and verify information.
• Answer calls professionally and courteously.
• Collect payments for time-of-service when applicable.
• Verify insurance coverage and obtain prior authorization when needed.
• Schedule appointments and prepare patient records for physicians.
