Job summary

Specialty Granules LLC in Ione, CA is seeking a skilled maintenance technician to maintain and repair a wide range of mobile power equipment, including air compressors, trucks, bulldozers, and forklifts. The emphasis is on gas and diesel engines, preventive maintenance, and safe, efficient operation.

You will use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment, perform repairs, and assist with engine assemblies and related components.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required
• Ability to drive mobile equipment and repair engines, brakes, carburetion, fuel injection, and power steering systems
• Comprehension of using electronic diagnostic equipment on all mobile equipment
• Do rough welding and work from schematics/diagrams
• Perform preventative maintenance on all mobile equipment and make emergency repairs as needed

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair a wide variety of mobile power equipment.
• Perform maintenance and repair work on equipment such as mobile air compressors, small trucks, haul trucks, dump trucks, bulldozers, forklift trucks, graders, front‑end loaders, etc.
• Complete repairs on gas and diesel powered equipment.
• Assist in removal, dismantling, repair, re-assembly, testing and installing engines and engine accessories.
• Assist in assembling components including transmissions, differentials, clutches, torque converters, steering, brakes, hydraulics, hoses.
• Assist in repairing ignition, fuel injection and carburetion systems.
• Inspect equipment and perform preventive maintenance duties.
• Lubricate equipment, change/repair tires, batteries, chains as needed.
• Utilize hand tools, power tools, and handheld diagnostic equipment.
• Keep work area clean and safe.

Job Summary

Essential Duties

• Maintain and repair a wide variety of mobile power equipment.
• Perform maintenance and repair work on equipment such as, mobile air compressors, small trucks, haul trucks, dump trucks, bulldozers, fork lift trucks, graders, front-end loaders, etc.
• Complete repairs on gas and diesel powered equipment.
• Assist in the removal, dismantle, repair, re-assembly, testing and installing engines and engine accessories.
• These assemblies include but not limited to: transmissions (manual and automatic), differentials, clutches, torque converters, steering systems, brake systems, hydraulic cylinders, hose assemblies, etc.
• Assist in repairing and adjusting ignition, fuel injection and carburetion systems.
• Inspect equipment and perform preventive maintenance duties.
• Lubricate equipment, change and repair tires, change and charge batteries, put on and remove tire chains, etc., as necessary.
• Utilize hand tools, power tools, and handheld diagnostic equipment.
• Use steam jenny to clean equipment.
• Complete acetylene burning and simple welding.
• Keep work area and tools clean and orderly.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned.
• Ensure the plant area meets or exceeds all safety standards for SGI (guards, walkways…etc.) and all work is performed safely.

Qualifications Required

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required

General Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Ability to drive mobile equipment.
• Ability to repair engines, ignitions, brakes, carburetion, fuel injection, power steering systems, etc.
• Comprehension on use of electronic diagnostic equipment on all mobile equipment.
• Do rough welding. Work from schematics and diagrams.
• Ability to complete preventative maintenance on all mobile equipment.
• Make emergency repairs when needed on all mobile equipment.
• The ability to use a desk top computer to research problems, determine possible cause and repair.
• The ability to identify parts needed for repairs.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and knowledge of mobile equipment.

Base salary and/or rate of pay ranges listed are exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Individual compensation offers will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, relevant candidate experience and skill, education, and/or qualifications.

Base Hourly Rate: $43.76
