The Maintenance Mechanic will work closely with Operations to minimize plant downtime, often working various shifts and overtime. Candidates must have a high school diploma and at least two years of maintenance experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of maintenance experience in heavy industrial manufacturing.
• Must pass the Ramsey Mechanical Aptitude Test with a minimum score of 70%.
• Ability to lift up to 100 lbs and work at heights.

Job description

Specialty Granules LLC (SGI) seeks an experienced Maintenance Mechanic to join our Charmian Plant in Blue Ridge Summit, PA. The position offers a competitive salary, full benefits from day one, vacation, paid holidays, and a 7% company match on a 401k. All tools and required PPE are provided. The Maintenance Mechanic reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and works closely with Operations to minimize plant downtime, often working various shifts, overtime, and weekend assignments.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform craft duties involved in simple construction, maintenance, lubrication, troubleshooting, and repair work on buildings and equipment.
• Assist on all types of construction, maintenance, and repair work throughout the plant.
• Use mechanic hand tools, overhead hoist, man lifts, and other equipment to dismantle and assemble machinery.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as required or assigned.
• Clean up work area after job completion.
• Ensure plant area meets or exceeds all safety standards (guarding, walkways, fall protection, PPE, lockout/tag-out, etc.) and that all work is performed safely.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of maintenance experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
• Must be able to pass the Ramsey Mechanical Aptitude Test with a minimum score of 70%.
• Must be able to work outdoors in non‑climate controlled environments, including exposure to dirt, grease, rough terrain, inclement weather, and winter cold.
• Must be able to climb stairs and ladders to work at heights.
• Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs with frequent bending, standing, and stooping.
• Must have a consistent track record for working safely.
• Must be able to work independently or as part of a team, multitask, and handle multiple priorities.
• Must possess a strong sense of urgency completing job tasks.
• Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without the need for an employer‑sponsored visa.

Preferred Qualifications

• Completion of an electrical and/or maintenance certificate or apprenticeship program.
• Knowledge of conveyors, crushers, pumps, hydraulics, screens, rotary dryers, and bucket elevators.
• Ability to stick weld, MIG weld, and perform oxy‑acetylene cutting.
