Job summary

The Allegheny County Department of Human Services (DHS) seeks a Housing Specialist to support families experiencing housing instability across Allegheny County. In this hybrid/mobile role, you will work with DHS-funded community locations to connect households with rental assistance, housing options, and eviction-prevention resources.

You will serve as the primary housing resource for program staff and participants, providing guidance on landlord-tenant issues, eligibility, and required

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, or related field.
• Minimum 2 years in social services, case management, or housing services.
• Experience with HUD/eviction prevention and homelessness resources.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct housing navigation and support to families in housing crises.
• Assist with affordable housing searches and documentation.
• Connect clients to rental assistance, utility arrears, and eviction prevention.
• Advocate and educate on tenant rights and program eligibility.
• Maintain records and report activities using web-based systems.
